From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Anime Trailer Reveals New Characters and Action

The upcoming anime From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman is gaining more attention with a brand-new trailer that gives fans a closer look at the story and characters ahead of Episode 7, which airs on May 17, 2025.

The anime is based on a light novel series by Shigeru Sagazaki that started in 2020. It’s being made by OLM, the studio behind Pokémon and Inazuma Eleven. The story follows Beryl Gardinant, a simple sword instructor from a quiet village. His peaceful life takes a big turn when he’s invited to train the elite knights of the powerful Liberion Order.

A Reluctant Mentor in the Spotlight

The new trailer mixes emotional moments with exciting action. It shows Beryl’s journey as he leaves his quiet village life and becomes known to the world. Fresh Characters Bring New Energy

Fans also get to see two new characters for the first time: Rose Marblehart and Gatoga Lazorne. Rose is the lieutenant of the Church of Sphene's Holy Order and is voiced by Ai Kayano. Gatoga, the Knight Commander of the same order, is voiced by Hidenobu Kiuchi. Their arrival brings new energy and tension to the story.
 

The anime is directed by Akio Kazumi, who also worked on Loner Life in Another World. Animation is handled by studios Passione and Hayabusa Film. Kunihiko Okada, known for The Eminence in Shadow, wrote the script. Satsuki Hayasaki design the characters, and Yasuharu Takanashi, who worked on Fairy Tail, compose the music.

As the anime gains popularity on streaming platforms like Prime Video, fan feedback has been positive. Viewers on MyAnimeList are loving the story and animation quality.
