Golden Kamuy 2025 Anime Update: Trailer, Cast, and Studio Info

A new Golden Kamuy anime is coming, but it’s not really a continuation of the main story. They say it’s going to release on October 17, 2025, as an OVA and will be bundled together with the spin-off novel Golden Kamuy: Tokushiro Tsurumi no Shukugan. Also, a trailer got released just now and they told who’s voicing the characters in the episodes. It’s not going to air on TV or something—it’s only coming as a Blu-ray limited edition.

This anime is going to adapt two different stories from the manga that didn’t came in the usual seasons. One is the "Lightning Thief" and "Viper Ogin" part, which is from around Chapter 102, and the other one is “Long-Tailed Tit / Shimaenaga” from Chapter 228. These episodes don’t really follow the main plot too closely, but they shows side characters and add more flavor to the story’s world.

Who’s Working on It This Time

The Director is Shizutaka Sugahara. The animation is being done by Brain’s Base, the same team that made Season 4. Since they handled it well before, probably fans are going to feel right at home with how it looks again.

The voice cast’s pretty small, but it fits the focused nature of the story:

• Koichi Yamadera plays Keiichiro Sakamoto in the “Lightning Thief” part
• Kotono Mitsuishi is voicing Viper Ogin
• Ikue Ohtani returns as Shimaenaga, the little white bird

Not a huge list, but makes sense given how the story sticks to just a few characters.

Golden Kamuy Keeps Going

The original manga by Satoru Noda started back in 2014 and ended in 2022 with 31 volumes total. As of 2024, more than 29 million copies were out there, which is kind of wild. It also won big awards, like the Manga Taisho in 2016 and the Tezuka Osamu Prize in 2018.

The anime itself began in 2018. First three seasons were made by Geno Studio, then Brain’s Base took over for Season 4. Right after that ended, they said the final season was in the works—but it hasn’t dropped yet. Still waiting.

On top of that, a live-action movie came out in January 2024, and later that year, a TV drama happened too, focused on the tattooed prisoner arc. People liked it enough that they already planning a sequel movie.

So this new OVA, it’s not meant to be some big plot twist or anything major. It’s more like a little extra for fans who love the side content. A nice way to go back to the Golden Kamuy world and check in with some of the lesser-known folks. And with the final season still on the way, it works as something to hold fans over till then.
