Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Premieres This July

The anime Kaiju No. 8 is coming back for Season 2 on July 19 at 11:30 PM JST. The update was shared on the show’s official website and social media. A new visual was also released, showing a stronger Defense Force and teasing more intense action ahead.

Season 2 will continue the story from the well-known series, which is based on Naoya Matsumoto's hit manga, which took monster battles in a fresh direction. The first season was produced by the well-known studio Production I.G. and was under the direction of Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya, and was scripted by Ichiro Okouchi, also known for his work on Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. Tetsuya Nishio, best known for Naruto, produced the character design. Yuta Bando, who created the music for BELLE, returned to make the soundtrack.

Kaiju No. 8 is about Kafka Hibino, a man who once wished to join the Defense Force to fight against giant monsters referred to as Kaiju. Kafka and his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro, made a promise to join the Defense Force together. However, time and circumstances drove them apart. Kafka eventually found himself working for a cleanup crew responsible for disposing of Kaiju remains after battles.

His routine life takes a turn when he meets Reno Ichikawa, a driven young man eager to join the Defense Force. Reno’s passion and commitment reignite Kafka’s own long-abandoned goal. This encounter sets Kafka on a path that reconnects him with his past and challenges him to fulfill a promise he made long ago.
