Madoka Magica Walpurgisnacht Rising Movie Set for February 2026 Release with New Trailer

There's finally a new update on the Puella Magi Madoka Magica's new movie. The movie, called Walpurgisnacht: Rising, is now set to release in February 2026. The information has been shared on the official site, where they have also posted a trailer and a fresh new visual. Interestingly, this movie is continuing the story from Rebellion, which last came out back in 2013.

At first, the movie was planned for winter 2024, but was later moved to winter 2025, and now it’s said to be 2026 for sure. The person directing this one is Yukihiro Miyamoto, who has already worked on other Madoka Magica things and also on Magia Record.

They are also bringing back the same team that was there in the old series and movies. Magica Quartet is still behind the story, and Akiyuki Simbo is returning as chief director. Gen Urobuchi is again doing the script, and Ume Aoki did the original character designs. For the animation, Junichirō Taniguchi is doing the design again, and Yuki Kajiura is making music. Plus, the weird space scenes will be by Gekidan Inu Curry. The animation is being handled again by Studio SHAFT.

Before this movie comes, Japan TV will also broadcast the old movies Beginnings and Eternal in October. The whole Madoka Magica series started with 12 episodes on TV in 2011. After that came the movies, then the Magia Record anime. That ran until 2022. The mobile game started in 2017 and ended just this July in Japan. The newest game, Magia Exedr, a already launched in March and gonna have a PC version on Steam soon too.

So now fans have been waiting long, and finally things are starting to move again.
