New trailer drops for Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid film, teasing family bonds and fresh scenes.

A new trailer has been released for Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved, set to premiere in Japan later this month. Called the "Parent and Child Edition," the trailer shows new scenes from the movie and includes Kanna’s father, Kimun Kamui.

The film is a continuation of the successful slice-of-life fantasy established in the original anime and manga. Tatsuya Ishihara directed the animated feature, and Kyoto Animation produced the film through strong storytelling and animation with detail. The script was authored by Yuka Yamada, while the character designs and animation were led by Miku Kadowaki.

From Manga Pages to the Big Screen

The story comes from a manga by Coolkyousinnjya, published in the Seinen magazine Manga Action by Futabasha. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English version for readers outside Japan.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid first gained popularity through its anime adaptation, now streamed globally by Crunchyroll. The series blends comedy, fantasy, and daily life with a heartfelt twist.

A Calm Life Changed Suddenly

At the heart of the story is Miss Kobayashi, a regular office worker living alone in a small apartment. Her quiet life changes when she helps a dragon in trouble. That dragon, Tohru, transforms into a human-like girl and insists on becoming her maid. Despite her magical powers and clingy behavior, Tohru is determined to repay her debt to Miss Kobayashi. Life quickly becomes chaotic—and heartwarming—as more dragons and fantastical beings enter her world.

The new movie will explore deeper emotions and focus on family and relationships. The trailer gives a sneak peek of what to expect.
