Necronomico and the Cosmic Horror Show Anime Premieres July 1

The original anime Necronomico and the Cosmic Horror Show is set to debut on July 1 at 11:30 PM JST on Japanese television. Produced by Cygames, the series unveiled a fresh trailer today, along with new voice cast members. Notably, Manaka Iwami voices Cthulu, joining the previously announced cast. Other additions include Kazuyuki Okitsu as Hastur, Katsuyuki Konishi as Ghatanothoa, Ayasa Ito as Cthygha, and VTubers Zhar & Lloiger making their voice acting debut as themselves.

The opening theme "Kakusho-ron" will be performed by Ryushen, while the ending theme "PANDORA feat.. Noa (from Colorful Peach)" will be sung by Vell. The cast for returning consists of Riho Sugiyama, Nana Hazumi, Reiji Kawashima, Atsushi Tamaru, Hazuki Ogino, Taichi Ichikawa, Kyohei Natsume, Hiroki Yasumoto, and Sayumi Watabe.

The new additions expand the cosmic horror element, enriching the mysterious atmosphere that defines the show.

Creative Team and Story Overview

The series is directed by Masato Matsune of Studio Gokumi, known for his work on Reign of the Seven Spellblades. The story draft and series composition are by Makoto Uezu, famed for KONOSUBA. Jiro Suzuki created the original character designs, and Evan Call, known for Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, composed the music. Together, they bring a mix of cosmic horror and everyday life to the story.

Plot Summary: Chasing the Irreplaceable Now

The story centers on Miko Kurono, a recent middle school graduate who embarks on a new life as a live streamer named Necronomico. With her childhood friend Mayu Mayusaka and rival Kanna Kagurazaka, Miko joins a new VR game project. Together, they learn to value the present moment—the "irreplaceable now"—while dealing with friendship, and competition, and finding themselves in this exciting adventure.

As the story goes on, the cosmic horror gets stronger, mixing supernatural events with daily life problems. The characters face both outside dangers and personal challenges, making the story more emotional. Famous actors voicing the cosmic beings add to the spooky and interesting feeling.
