New Dragon Maid Movie Coming in June 2025 with New Character Images

Kyoto Animation informed a new *Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid* movie called *A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved*. It will be released in theaters over Japan on June 27, 2025. The studio also released eight new character pictures. They show familiar faces from the anime and a new, mysterious villain. This new character is expected to bring new feelings and challenges to the story. The film is directed by Tatsuya Ishihara, best known for *Sound! Euphonium*. The screenplay is by Yuka Yamada. The character designer and animation director is Miku Kadowaki. Yasuhiro Takemoto - who worked on the earlier parts of the series - is credited as the series director, posthumously. It is adapted from a manga by Coolkyousinnjya.

Familiar Characters and a New Challenge

The new visuals show both favorite dragons and humans from the series. The movie’s title, *A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved*, hints at themes like acceptance, identity, and emotional connection. The new villain’s details are still a secret, but their role is expected to add tension and help the main characters grow.

Her life gets turned upside down after saving a dragon named Tohru. Tohru transforms into a young lady with horns and a tail magically, and wants to live with Kobayashi to honor her kindness. Along with other dragons, they somehow create a family that is not only strange and loving, but also chaotic. 

The new movie is expected to have the same heartwarming moments and comedy that its fans have come to love, so whether you're a seasoned fan or a new viewer, there seems to be something to look forward to in 2025.
