Quintessential Quintuplets RPG reveals fantasy setting and opening anime ahead of Sept. release.
A new fantasy RPG set in The Quintessential Quintuplets universe has unveiled its animated opening. Titled Gotōbun no Princess: Fantasy, the Abyss, and a Magic Academy, the game is the fourth console entry in the series and reimagines the well-known characters in a magical setting. The animated opening, now streaming on the franchise's official YouTube channel, features the theme song “Ashita e” (To Tomorrow) performed by the Nakano quintuplets.
The game is scheduled for release in Japan on September 18 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. A limited edition and special box will include an “Original Anime Blu-ray Disc” containing the animated opening (with and without credits), a short original animation, and a 45-minute visual drama centered around a sleepover scene with Fūtarō Uesugi and the quintuplets.

Set in a world of magic and nobility, the story places Fūtarō Uesugi in the role of a student at a magic academy. To earn extra money, he becomes a private tutor for five sisters from an aristocratic family serving the royal court. The game blends familiar relationship dynamics from the original series with fantasy elements like spellcasting and mystical settings.
MAGES, the developer behind all previous console games in the franchise, is once again handling development. Earlier titles include Memories of a Quintessential Summer (2021), Five Memories Spent With You (2022), and Five Promises Exchanged With Five Girls (2023). Most of these were released for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, with the first two getting English versions via Spike Chunsoft in 2024.
MAGES. also developed Goto Pazu Story, a console adaptation of the original smartphone puzzle game. While the mobile version will cease service on June 30, its story lives on through console adaptations, including Goto Pazu Story 2nd, launched in 2024.
The franchise began with Negi Haruba’s manga, serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2017 to 2020. Since then, The Quintessential Quintuplets has grown into a multi-platform phenomenon, spanning manga, anime, films, and now a growing lineup of video games.
