A talking flower sparks reflection in The Last Blossom, releasing this October with emotional storytelling
Fans of ODD TAXI now have something new to wait for. A fresh anime movie titled “The Last Blossom (Housenka)” is on the way. The news came out at Anime Expo 2025, where the trailer, theme song, and poster were all shown together. The movie has been announced to arrive in Japanese cinemas on 10th October, 2025.
The Housenka Flower (Last Blossom) Unlocks a Lost Chapter
The story focuses on Minoru Akutsu, who is already very old and sitting in prison alone. But then something quite strange happens, he sees a Housenka flower. But not just sees, it starts talking with him. That strange moment, it started making Akutsu think deeply about what happened before. His life, his choices, all the people from his past.
Then the story suddenly jumps to 1986. Akutsu was living in a small messy flat, together with Nana and her son. That place was old, but the garden had so many of those same Housenka flowers. From this point, the film starts showing Akutsu’s past. It’s not very happy, but it matters. The story deals with regret, memory, and with a little bit of soft hope, too.
The trailer’s background music was shown too, a song called “Moving Still Life” by the band Cero. The song feels gentle, almost like whispering something you can’t forget. It’s not fast or loud, but it stays in your mind.
Beyond Japan: A Wider Journey
This film already had a premiere earlier at the Annecy Animation Festival. It was even shown earlier in the Work in Progress section, so they’ve been working on it for a while.

And the movie is not staying only in Japan. It’s also coming to many European countries like the UK, France, Ireland, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Anime Limited and Plaion Pictures are handling that. The home release is also being planned.
So maybe, when October comes, one small flower will tell a story bigger than expected. Strange, soft, and probably unforgettable.
