Tokyo Ghoul marks 10 years with a new 'unravel' MV, revisiting Kaneki's journey and emotions.

Ten years have passed since Tokyo Ghoul first came out, and Studio Pierrot has now made a new video for it. They use again the famous “unravel” opening song by TK from Ling tosite sigure, but this time with new images. Some scenes are new, and others are taken straight from the old anime. It focuses again on Kaneki—how he changes from a normal guy to someone who must fight just to stay alive. The video is already live on Pierrot’s YouTube, and fans are watching with a full heart.

This drop occurred after the whole anniversary event began last year. Back then, they made a website, released artworks, and even held exhibitions. Now this music video is like the last gift for the tenth-year celebration.

Tokyo Ghoul's Journey Across Media

The manga made by Sui Ishida started in 2011 and wrapped up in 2014. It had 14 volumes. But the story didn’t end there—Tokyo Ghoul: re started right after and kept going until 2018. Then the anime came out in 2014 and became a hit very fast. Season two arrived in early 2015, but the story in it was different from the manga. After that, the sequel manga also turned into anime, which had two seasons aired in 2018.

It didn’t stop at just animation. Tokyo Ghoul also turned into a live-action movie. The first one was in 2017, the second followed in 2019. The story became more than just manga or anime—it found life in many ways.

Kaneki’s Story Still Hits Deep

VIZ Media published the English version of the manga, so fans outside Japan also knew the tale. The story is about Ken Kaneki, a quiet student who meets a girl named Rize. But she’s not who he thinks. She tries to eat him—she’s a Ghoul. After the accident, Kaneki lives, but is not the same anymore. Now he parts with Ghoul too, forced into a new dark world full of danger and rules he never knew before.

The new “Unravel” music video reminds fans to remember again. The mix of sound and pictures brings back pain, growth, and Kaneki’s deep journey. Even though time passed, his fight and sadness still feel real.

Ten years later, people still hold Tokyo Ghoul close. The story, the music, the emotions—they didn’t disappear. They stayed.
