Top 5 Funniest Anime You Should Try This Week

Looking for a good laugh? Check out our list of the Top 5 Funniest Anime that you should try this week.

No matter how much drama or action we enjoy in anime, sometimes we just need something that we can laugh at. Not just smile or chuckle a bit, but the type of laugh that brings pain to your stomach and has you rewinding scenes just to laugh all over again. That's the type of comedy anime we're referring to.

Anime has always, year after year, presented us with funnier shows, so deciding on just five is not an easy choice. Yet, some just get it right. This can be due to some witty jokes, absurd characters, or nonsensical situations; these anime have mastered the art of comedy to keep one laughing.

So here’s my pick of the Top 5 Funniest Anime of All Time. Not based on popularity alone, but on how well they actually made people laugh out loud even after rewatching.

Gintama

No surprise here, and I know most of you have already heard about it. Gintama is probably the king of anime comedy. At first glance, it looks like a typical samurai show… until aliens show up, there’s a robot maid, and every serious scene turns into a joke.

This show breaks all rules. It parodies everything from Dragon Ball and Naruto to real-life Japanese culture. The comedy is smart, fast, and sometimes just plain ridiculous. But the thing is, it works. One minute you’re crying, laughing, the next minute, the story hits you with a deep emotional arc.

Gintoki who happens to be the main guy, is lazy, sarcastic, and somehow still a total badass, and he will become your favorite character in no time.

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!

If you have ever watched an isekai anime, KonoSuba could serve as the perfect roast to that entire genre. A guy dies and gets sent to a fantasy world, just not as a hero, but rather with the most useless character ever formed.

There's Aqua, the goddess lacking in common sense. Megumin, who knows only one explosion spell. And Darkness, a masochistic knight who keeps missing all her hits. Our Protagonist, Kazuma, no matter how hard he tries, the bad luck he possesses always gets him into chaos everywhere.

KonoSuba is a must-watch cause it flips the whole isekai genre on its head. Instead of badass heroes, you get the most useless, chaotic team ever. The humor’s wild, characters are dumb in the best way, and every episode is just non-stop nonsense that somehow works perfectly. It’s pure comedy gold.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

Saiki is a psychic who hates attention and wants to lead a low-profile and quiet life. But imagine if you have the power to read someone's mind, teleport, and can blow anything by accident, will it be that easy to life a quiet life. Well, the exact case is here.

The beauty of Saiki K. is in its non-stop comedy. It doesn’t drag jokes. Every scene hits fast, with sharp punchlines and crazy side characters. From his loud parents to his delusional classmate who thinks he’s an anime protagonist, everyone around Saiki is a walking disaster.

Saiki offers deadpan reactions, which are quite refreshing and really hilarious. It is an anime that you can go on watching for hours on end without getting tired.

Nichijou (My Ordinary Life)

Do not get misled by the title-nichijou is anything but common. It is a school-life anime where everything normal is turned into epic chaos. A girl trips on the street, and it is animated like a fight scene. A teacher rides a goat to school. There is even a robot that makes lunch.

The animation is crisp, colorful, and full of sudden energy bursts.

Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto

This anime is about one thing: perfection. Sakamoto is by far the coolest guy in school. Whatever life throws at him, he accepts the challenge with a smile and famously with flair. Bullies try to prank him? He can turn the tables anytime. A desk is thrown from the window? He sits in mid-air, yeahh literally.

Every episode is a joke about how over-the-top perfect he is, and it never gets old. What’s funny is that even the other characters start admiring him halfway through attempting to make fun of him.  It’s a simple idea stretched into pure gold. You’ll be laughing at how ridiculous, yet amazing, everything Sakamoto does is.
