GTA 6 hacker accused under arrest pleads "not guilty"; Rockstar Games takes measures to tighten security

There’s a new development on the arrest that was made by London City Police earlier this week. Reports suggest that the accused, a 17-year old from London, has pleaded “not guilty”. While we get into the details, Rockstar Games has no choice but to take this security breach into the gameplay of GTA VI very seriously. They are now hiring an Investigation Analyst for security and human resource initiatives. Here’s all the latest on Rockstar Games, and the GTA VI gameplay leak. 

Rockstar Games-GTA VI leak- Latest updates and developments

A quick recap before we get into the latest developments on the arrest made for the GTA VI leak. A 17-year-old was arrested in Oxfordshire by the London City Police on September 23rd, on “suspicion of hacking”. While the Police did not divulge the details of what hacking the accused was involved in, journalist Matthew Keys revealed that it was related to “intrusion on Rockstar Games and possibly Uber Technologies”. As Uber claimed the involvement of hacker group Lapsus$ in their security breach, Keys too reiterated that this accused is suspected to be connected to Lapsus$. Reports later revealed that the FBI noted similarities between the earlier cyber-attacks of Lapsus$, and the ones on Rockstar and Uber. This is what ultimately led the FBI to investigate the cases of Rockstar and Uber, and finally get to their suspect as well. 

In the latest development, Eurogamer reports as stated by City of London detective inspector Michael O'Sullivan, the 17-year-old has pleaded “not guilty to computer misuse”. However, as it turns out, the accused was one of the seven earlier arrested this year for hacking a series of companies like Microsoft and Nvidia. The kid got out on bail but failed to fulfill his bail conditions. Inspector Sullivan informed that the 17-year-old has now “pleaded guilty to breaching his bail conditions”. The teenager has now been “remanded to a youth detention centre”. However, investigations continue, as more than one person is suspected to be involved in the biggest leak of video game history. 

Rockstar Games' looking for Investigation Analyst

Rockstar Games on the other hand, has now started afresh, its hunt for an Investigation Analyst. The job posting from June earlier this year, was updated on September 23rd. Rockstar specified that the candidate must be committed to defending their games “against cheaters, hackers, exploiters, and any and all troublemakers.” Responsibilities would include intelligence analysis, gathering, monitoring and reporting.
