League of Legends patch 25.S1.2 brings Atakhan changes, Feats of Strength upgrades, champion adjustments, and improved tank-busting items.
The upcoming League of Legends patch 25.S1.2 introduces significant updates to game mechanics, champion balance, and item performance. Matt Leung-Harrison, Riot Games' lead gameplay designer known as "Riot Phroxzon," made a sneak peek at significant adjustments in the patch, which impacts game mechanics, balance in the champions, and attribute performance of the equipment.
Focus on Atakhan and Feats of Strength
Atakhan, a key feature in Swiftplay mode, will appear less often in its Voracious form. Riot Games noticed it shows up more frequently in Swiftplay than in Classic mode. To keep things fair, they’re making small adjustments to balance its appearance.
The patch also brings adjustments to Feats of Strength boot upgrades, as the current state of these items has sparked balance concerns within the player community.
ADCs and Tanks: Refining Counterplay Dynamics
Tanks have been a hot topic among players, with Riot recognizing the challenges in balancing them. To address this, the team is working on improving tank-busting items like Yun Tal and Lord Dominik’s Regards. The goal is to make these items more effective against tanks while ensuring they don’t become too strong against non-tank champions.
The goal is to create clearer distinctions between builds designed for tank-busting and those optimized for eliminating squishy targets, such as the Collector.
Champion Buffs and Nerfs
Several champions are set to receive buffs and nerfs aimed at balancing their in-game performance:
Buffed Champions
- Evelynn
- Master Yi
- Blue Kayn
- Smoulder
- Yuumi
These buffs focus on addressing specific weaknesses, particularly for champions impacted by recent rune and item changes.
Nerfed Champions
- Cassiopeia
- Tahm Kench
Cassiopeia’s preemptive buff, introduced as compensation for her inability to purchase boots, proved overly potent. Adjustments are being made to bring her power level in line with other champions.
Rune and Item Adjustments
The Domination rune path is undergoing changes to improve the power level of vision-related runes. As a result, the balance team is careful not to overdo, so that players are allowed to try other things, such as Sorcery and First Strike.
So, as a tank-busting item, Yun Tal Wildarrows is being revamped, as it had been underpowered, but with great variety in builds as well.
System Nerfs and Adjustments
Voracious Atakhan
The power of Voracious Atakhan's effect will be slightly toned down, aligning with its reduced frequency in Swiftplay mode. Despite its current potency, Riot believes additional time is needed to allow players to develop counterplay strategies.
Bloody Roses
The effectiveness of the Bloody Roses system is being further reduced. Riot aims to position them as a low-impact reward that still feels meaningful without overly influencing gameplay dynamics.
Lord Dominik’s Adjustments
Further tweaks are being made to Lord Dominik’s items to refine their performance and ensure they align with the updated itemization philosophy.

Looking Forward
Riot Games observes passionately what players think about and watch in gameplay trends when initiating these changes. With the changes in 25.S1.2, all champions and items calculable systems seek to balance the real interest and potential strategic experience that player users may have with either of these types.
