Monster Hunter Wilds Hotfix Drops in March: Major Bug Fixes & QoL Updates

Capcom’s first Monster Hunter Wilds hotfix arrives on March 4, fixing a game-breaking story bug and improving cooking mechanics. Performance updates still pending.

Capcom is gearing up to drop the first major hotfix for Monster Hunter Wilds, tackling some game-breaking bugs and making a few key improvements. While the game has been a massive success since launch—hitting huge player milestones on Steam—it hasn’t been without its fair share of hiccups.

From performance issues on PC to controversy over microtransactions and debates about the game’s difficulty, there’s been plenty of chatter in the community. But Capcom is listening and working to smooth things out, starting with a critical story bug fix and some quality-of-life tweaks.

Fixing a Game-Breaking Bug

One of the biggest problems players have faced is a progression-stopping bug in the mission “A World Turned Upside Down”. A key NPC fails to appear, essentially halting the story in its tracks. Capcom has identified the issue and is rolling out a fix to ensure hunters can keep moving forward.

Alongside this, the update will also address problems with the Ingredient Center and Grill a Meal, making life a little easier for those trying to cook up the perfect pre-hunt feast.

When’s the Update Dropping?

Capcom has confirmed the hotfix arrives on March 4 at 12 AM PST. Once it goes live, here’s what to expect:

  • All online sessions will be disconnected while the update rolls out.
  • Players will need to download the hotfix before they can jump back into the game.
  • The main focus is bug fixes, not performance improvements (at least for now).

What About Performance Issues?

While this update should help players stuck in the campaign, some in the community are frustrated that Capcom isn’t addressing performance issues—especially on PC. Capcom has offered some temporary fixes and optimization tips, but many players are holding out for a dedicated patch to improve frame rates, crashes, and overall stability.

For now, if you're stuck waiting, maybe take a break, sharpen your weapons, and get ready to jump back in once the update lands.
