Phasmophobia 2025 Roadmap Revealed, Major Updates Incoming

Kinetic Games has outlined its vision for Phasmophobia in 2025, promising substantial updates, map overhauls, and long-term development plans. The roadmap highlights two major updates alongside seasonal events and improvements to core gameplay mechanics.

Chronicle Update and Evidence System Overhaul

The first major update of the year, titled Chronicle, introduces significant changes to how players document evidence. The existing Photos tab will be replaced with a new Media tab, designed to store not only images but also videos and audio recordings captured during investigations.

While Kinetic Games provided insight into these features, the developer hinted at additional surprises that will be revealed closer to release. A prior development diary contains further details, but for now, some aspects remain under wraps.

Character Models and Animations Revamped

Another key focus for 2025 is enhancing player character models and animations to create a more immersive experience. However, the complete character customization feature has been pushed to 2026, as the team prioritizes development on the anticipated Horror 2.0 update.

Map Reworks and New Additions

Several iconic maps are set to receive visual and structural improvements this year. The first on the list is Bleasdale Farmhouse, scheduled for release in March. Following that, 6 Tanglewood Drive and Grafton Farmhouse will also undergo reworks later in the year.

According to Kinetic Games, these updates will refine the artistic direction of each location, adding improved textures, assets, and animations while maintaining their familiar layouts. In addition to the reworks, a brand-new small-scale map will be introduced. The studio confirmed that all future map additions will be compact in size, allowing for a more frequent release schedule.

Although the roadmap primarily focuses on 2025, Kinetic Games has also hinted at what lies ahead. The Horror 2.0 update, slated for 2026, will bring additional maps and further refinements to the game's horror elements. Specifics on this ambitious update remain scarce, with more details expected to surface as development progresses.
