YouTuber PlainRock124 reportedly banned from Nintendo Store after destroying new Switch 2 on launch day, sparking backlash and debate online.
So, recently a YouTuber named PlainRock124, who’s kind of well-known for breaking expensive tech stuff, decided to yet again destroy another gadget. This time, it was the Switch 2, and he done it right in front of the Nintendo Store in San Francisco.
Switch 2 Got Smashed, And It’s Filmed
The video, where he unboxes it and then just slams it outside on the pavement, has gone viral very quickly. He even said on X that he might be “the first person banned from that store,” and also posted a photo of the broken thing. Whether that’s true or not, still up for some questions.
Store and Maybe Account Ban Happen
There haven’t been official words from Nintendo itself, but a couple of gaming sites and fan accounts are claiming that he got not only kicked from the shop but also got some kind of account-wide ban. No more buying or dealing with Nintendo stuff under his name. That’s what is being said.
Some leaks or messages from people who work in-store are saying that they “flagged” his name now, which doesn’t sound like a joke
Mixed Feelings from the Internet
People who saw the video had many opinions. Some are angry, calling it wasteful, especially when not everyone can get Switch 2 because it’s still not available in all places or too little in stock. One person wrote, “Break something many people are dreaming to own? That’s not a thing to do.”
Others didn’t say much, just said it was “attention-seeking” and unnecessary, although a few admitted they still watched it. Reddit had a few threads arguing if this kind of “content” is too far now or still okay if it's for fun. The talk went both ways.
Who is PlainRock124? The man who smashed his Switch 2
PlainRock124, for people who don’t know, is a YouTuber with like 2.5 million subscribers. He makes videos where he smashes tech things like iPads, consoles, and even some old stuff sometimes.
It’s not the first time he broke something, but this Switch 2 smash during release week – that one hit people differently.
The thing makes people wonder how far is too far just to get views online. When things are rare and hard to buy, is it okay to just smash it for a laugh? Or is it just disrespecting everyone who wanted one?
