Avalanche Software Reportedly Developing New Online Multiplayer RPG After Hogwarts Legacy Success
Job listings hint that Avalanche Software, creators of Hogwarts Legacy, are working on an online multiplayer RPG. Could a multiplayer Wizarding World game be next?

Avalanche Software, the studio behind 2023's hit Hogwarts Legacy, appears to be working on a new online multiplayer RPG. The company's recent job listings and leaks have fueled speculation, though there’s no official confirmation on whether this project is set in the Wizarding World.
However, given the massive success of Hogwarts Legacy, a multiplayer Harry Potter RPG should not come as a surprise to us, right? Here is everything we know about the recent developments.
All of these speculations started when several new job postings on Avalanche Software’s career page specifically mentioned online multiplayer game development. These include roles like Executive Producer, Director of Design, Director of Product Management, Director of Software Engineering, and Lead Designer for Game Systems.
Interestingly, all of the job descriptions required experience in creating multiplayer systems, server infrastructure, and RPG mechanics. Notably, each of these roles explicitly states:
“You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and artists to ensure the game’s vision is effectively translated into compelling multiplayer features."
This is a significant shift for the studio, which has primarily focused on single-player experiences.
Not to mention, the speculation gained further traction when XOXLEAK, a known online leaker, shared insights on X (formerly Twitter).

While Avalanche Software could be working on an original IP, it’s impossible to ignore how Hogwarts Legacy changed the studio’s trajectory. The game sold over 22 million copies by the end of 2023, bringing in approximately $1.7 billion in revenue. It was one of the best-selling titles of the year, proving that there’s a massive audience for games set in the Wizarding World.
Given this success, it’s reasonable to think that Warner Bros. might want to capitalize on the franchise with a multiplayer experience. A cooperative or competitive online RPG set in the magical world could be a natural next step.
For now, we can only advise fans to wait for an official announcement if this happens. But given Avalanche’s history and the success of Hogwarts Legacy, this is definitely a project worth keeping an eye on.
