META Publishing along with the developers Pokuch, they now announced a new co-op sci-fi survival type game that called Blind Descent. This game will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series consoles, and of course PC. It was shown during the Future Games Show and was later shown again at the Summer Game Fest. The game, as it says, will enter Early Access on PC sometime in 2026, probably on Steam, but also on Epic and maybe even GOG.
Deep Underground on Mars (It Gets Weird)
The story happens in the year 2071, where group of people are sent to deep down inside the Mars surface. This isn’t just caves—it’s like, almost 10 miles under the surface. The mission was meant to be a rescue operation, but obviously, things not go so good. Things start going wrong fast and now the players need to survive in a hostile, creepy ecosystem where nothing stays normal.
Mutate or Die (Symbiosis System Is Here)
This game's main mechanic is what they call Symbiosis System. It’s like, you and the planet, you have to live together. The environment is not just background. It reacts. It can even fight back if you mess it up too badly. Strange alien plants and animals are everywhere, and if you interact with them, like, maybe eating spores or fruit, they could change your body. Yes, mutations happen. These changes help you explore more and live better, but also maybe dangerous?
You Build and You Learn
There is crafting, and you can also build. Yes, base building is there and you can research alien biology to learn tools and items. But be careful. If you build and then forget about it, the environment might just take over. Even your structures can be swallowed up by strange growths.
Also there is lot of vertical climbing. You're going to use climbing tools and sticky devices to cross hard areas. It's not just walking around like many survival games. You are moving through the planet, not just on top.

Working Together (Not Optional)
This one’s designed for co-op, like 4 people at once. Teaming up is not just a bonus—it’s needed. Everyone helps collect, build, and explore. And even more interesting, the mutations and discoveries seem to be shared, like a group evolution. So your team becomes stronger together, not just separately.
When can you play?
It’s going to launch in Early Access in 2026 on Steam, that's the plan for now. Later, maybe on Epic Store and GOG too. You can already wishlist it, and they also have a Discord and are active on social platforms like X and TikTok.
The Vibe is Unique
What makes Blind Descent so different is how it treats the world. The planet doesn’t want you there, and it will show it. It’s kind of like a horror survival mixed with ecosystem storytelling. People said it reminds them of Subnautica or Scavengers Reign, but with more vertical exploring and dark space.
A Final Word
So, Blind Descent not only looks cool, it’s trying to be different. It’s scary and smart at the same time. If you like survival games that make you think (and mutate), it’s probably worth keeping an eye on. Just don’t expect it to be easy.
