Blood Message: NetEase’s First AAA Story-Driven Game Announced
NetEase has announced Blood Message, its first AAA single-player action-adventure game set during the Tang Dynasty.

NetEase Games, a well-known Chinese game publisher, has announced a new and exciting game titled Blood Message. Blood Message will be NetEase's first AAA single-player game, which is quite a leap for the firm, who are better recognized for multiplayer and live-service content such as Marvel Rivals and Destiny: Rising.
Blood Message is a third-person action-adventure game, but it ain’t just about fighting and running around. What really makes it different is how deep it goes into the story and feels almost like you’re watching a movie while playing. The game's set in the late Tang Dynasty — yeah, that super famous and rich time in China’s history where culture was just blooming all over the place.
Blood Message Plot Overview
So, here’s the plot: the story follows a father and his young son. They’re messengers, and they gotta cross thousands of miles, from Dunhuang all the way to Chang’an, the big capital. And they’re carrying a message that might just be the only hope left for their war-damaged land. Definitely sounds intense, right?
It’s being made by 24 Entertainment Lin’an Studio, and they’re using Unreal Engine 5, so yeah, the graphics are crazy good. In the trailer, you can see deserts, snowy mountains, old ruins, and peaceful villages – everything looks super detailed and alive.
Now, the journey ain’t smooth. The dad and son run into all sorts of trouble like dangerous enemies, rough weather like snowstorms, and even avalanches, and some mysterious enemies on the way. The game really tries to hit you in the feels, too. There's a big emotional side to it.
NetEase says it’s not like your usual open-world game. It’s more straightforward, like it really wants you to just focus on the story. The combat looks good, with some sneaky stealth parts and survival stuff thrown in too. What’s cool is, they’re not telling a tale about heroes or kings. It’s about normal people and how even small lives can make a big difference in history.
Expected Release Date
No official release date is mentioned yet, but the game will come out on PC and major consoles. NetEase has also established a site (blood-message.com) where fans can pre-register to receive updates, giveaways, and potentially global playtesting. For fans who love story-rich games set in rich histories, Blood Message appears to be an absolute must-play title.
