Call of Duty Black Ops 7: Story, Gameplay, Release Window, and Everything We Know So Far
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 brings new co-op campaign, multiplayer modes, and Zombies in 2035 setting. Get all the key info, platforms, and trailer details.

The Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 has already been revealed at the Xbox Showcase on June 8, 2025 and now players are getting more excited and also a little worried. This time, it is strange because the game is coming very soon after Black Ops 6, which is a bit unusual.
Release Date and Where You Can Play
-
It’s expected that Black Ops 7 will be out in October or November, just like the most Call of Duty games before.

It’s coming for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and also PC (Steam and Battle.net too). Still supporting old gen consoles, strangely enough.
So, pretty much everyone can play it, no matter what system they have.
Storyline, Timeline and Characters Involved
The game takes place in the year 2035, so it’s not too far future but a bit ahead. It’s continuing the story after both Black Ops 2 and 6. This time players are going to be David Mason, who is son of the famous Alex Mason. Actor Milo Ventimiglia returns for the voice.
Also, Raúl Menéndez comes back, but it’s not very clear how. Seems like he is more like a digital version or kind of hallucination or AI maybe? Not fully explained yet.
Besides that, you have Michael Rooker back as Mike Harper, and also Kiernan Shipka, she plays Emma Kagan, who is working with a group called "The Guild".
Game Features and New Mechanics
Movement System
They are still using the Omnimovement introduced last time, where you can dive, roll, and move around smoothly. But they are not adding advanced tech like jetpacks or wall-running, which keeps it grounded.
Multiplayer Modes
It will have standard ones like Domination, TDM, and Hardpoint. But some new ones too:
-
Overload: teams try to push EMPs into enemy base.
-
Skirmish: big 20v20 battles that feels more chaotic, almost like battlefield type.
Campaign Co-op and Zombies Return
Players now can play the entire campaign in co-op, which wasn’t possible since Black Ops 3. That’s good for those who like playing stories with others.
Zombies mode is also back. It follows the Dark Aether story and brings back the classic round-based format.
Concerns About the Release
There are people who thinking it’s coming too fast. Releasing a new Black Ops just one year after last one makes some fans feel nervous. When Modern Warfare 3 was rushed, it didn’t turn out so good. Maybe campaign will be shorter, or the content might feel less fresh.
Conclusion: Wait and Watch
Black Ops 7 is trying to continue the story while adding some new modes and co-op story gameplay. With return of Zombies and mix of characters from past, it could be a great entry — but only if they don’t rush too much. Otherwise it might feel like more of the same.
