Clash Royale April Patch: Instant Rewards, New Champion, Pathfinding Fixes & More

With these systemic changes in place, Supercell has also introduced a new Champion Boss Bandit, the first 6-Elixir unit of her kind. Like the original Bandit, she dashes towards enemies.

Clash Royale's latest patch has silently restructured the game’s entire pacing model, and most players didn’t see it coming. Just weeks after players adjusted to the Hunter Evolution meta and the return of more lane-focused decks in Clan Wars, Supercell has delivered a sweeping overhaul that changes not just card dynamics but the foundation of reward mechanics. This update doesn’t simply refine features; it eliminates long-standing systems. With one massive move, the game now feels faster, more competitive, and surprisingly unpredictable. But that’s only the start; there’s a bigger twist lurking behind these changes.

Clash Royale April Patch: Chest Queues Removed, Instant Rewards Take Over

The April patch removes Chest Queues, Timers, and Keys, essentially wiping out the wait time that once defined Clash Royale’s reward system. Now, every battle offers instant gratification. Win a match, and you immediately receive Battle Rewards like Lucky Drops, Bonus Rewards (Gold or Random Cards), and Crowns. Random Cards are selected from the player’s unlocked pool and can vary in rarity depending on your current Arena tier.

The system has also restructured the daily reward cycle. For the first three wins, players receive Lucky Drops, Bonus Rewards, and 5 extra Crowns per battle, up to 15 bonus Crowns daily. Wins four to ten offer Bonus Rewards and Crowns, and from the eleventh win onward, every victory delivers Crowns alone. This model removes all limitations on match frequency and opens up a grind-friendly structure without locking rewards behind time gates.

As a result of these changes, players with Chests in their queues saw them automatically open. Chest Keys were converted into Gold at a rate of 5,000 per key, capped at 150,000 Gold. The Season Shop was also sunset, with all Season Tokens removed and redistributed into the main game. High-value items like the Wild Shard now appear in the free Pass Royale, while Evolution Shards and the Book of Cards are available through Milestone and Community Events.

Banner Tokens met a similar fate. These were converted into Gold at 2,000 per 100 tokens, up to a maximum of 40,000 Gold. Frames and Decorations will now drop through Events, Lucky Drops, Pass Royale, and Shop offers. Visually, daily win streaks now ignite players' profiles with flames, adding flair to long win runs and highlighting that, in this new model, momentum matters.

New Champion, Evolution & Major Gameplay Fixes

With these systemic changes in place, Supercell has also introduced a new Champion Boss Bandit, the first 6-Elixir unit of her kind. Like the original Bandit, she dashes towards enemies, but her active ability, Getaway Grenade, adds tactical depth. The ability allows her to teleport backward and then dash forward for a surprise attack. Even more disruptive, when her health drops to 50%, the cooldown resets, opening the door to high-pressure comebacks and late-game reversals. She hits the arena on April 7, aligning with the new season titled “A Tale of Thieves.”

Alongside her, the Executioner Evolution introduces close-range knockback and additional damage, making him more lethal against swarms and mid-tier troops. This evolution gives players new tools to control bridge battles and hold lanes, especially useful in Rascals-heavy meta compositions seen during the recent community tournaments.

Supercell didn’t stop at new cards. Troop pathfinding has been completely reworked. Previously, units would walk straight into buildings and only adjust their pathing upon collision. Now, they detect structures early and reroute, resulting in smoother interactions. Horizontal-to-lane movement has been reduced, too; troops now travel diagonally for more natural movement. This change aims to fix long-standing bugs and inconsistencies without disrupting deck archetypes or meta balance.

Additional changes include faster Lucky Drop animations, improved cosmetic management in the Deck Collection, and key fixes to interactions involving Mega Knight Evolution, Rune Giant, Hunter Evolution, and Air Troops. Rage now buffs the Executioner and Ram Rider’s attack speed, and deployment mirroring for cards like Royal Hogs, Skeleton Army, and Zappies has been corrected for balance and consistency.
