Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action Series in Development, Arriving Sooner Than Expected
A new live-action Cyberpunk 2077 series is officially in the works and set to release by 2025. Explore original stories from the neon-lit Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077, which is being developed by CD Projekt Red, is once again coming into talks, not only because of expansions or gameplay changes, but now for its movement into television space again. After what people are calling a successful run of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, now the creators are planning to make something else, this time with real actors instead of animations. And it seems like this new series is coming sooner than what most people might be thinking.
The CD Projekt Red studio, which also made The Witcher, has been joining hands with the company Anonymous Content (which previously produced True Detective and also Mr. Robot) to make this new live-action show. Until now there is not so much known about the exact story, but it’s being said that it will not be copied from the game or the anime. Rather, it is going to show new characters and fresh stories inside the same cyberpunk kind of world with all the light and chaos.
Interestingly, the show is not taking too long, like many other science fiction projects usually do. Reports are showing that creators want to release it by the end of 2025 or maybe early in 2026, which is faster than many thought would happen.
Coming After Edgerunners Popularity
The decision to make this show is not random. It is coming after the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime got lots of appreciation and big attention back in 2022. That series, made together with Studio Trigger, was liked by many people and even brought many gamers back to playing Cyberpunk 2077 again. CD Projekt said it became one of their biggest media collaborations.
The live-action one is probably hoped to do the same thing, taking Cyberpunk from just a game to a bigger universe, similar to how Blade Runner or The Expanse grew outside their originals.
What Will Fans See
As of now, there has not been official news on who will act in the series or what exactly it looks like. But fans can expect to see all the things that make Cyberpunk 2077 popular, like heavy body modifications, corrupted companies, and people struggling with who they are. CD Projekt Red is staying closely involved to make sure that everything matches with the game’s theme and style.
Filming may start in early 2025, so there should be more news coming. Until then, fans can go back to Edgerunners or the Phantom Liberty DLC while waiting for the new arrival of Cyberpunk on screen again.
