Enter the Arrakeen sands as you have never before. Funcom has officially announced that Dune: Awakening—a massive open-world survival MMO in the famed Dune universe—will be released very soon. The game is set to be released on Steam on May 20th, at an open price of $49.99/€49.99. Dune: Awakening would go a long way in presenting the urgency and might of the desert to any experienced Frank Herbert saga buffs or survival game protagonists.
Dune Awakening Release Date Early Access: Character Creator & Benchmark Mode
To assist players in preparing, Funcom has unveiled a Character Creation & Benchmark Mode. This independent function enables players to craft their in-game characters before launch. These characters can be stored and directly imported into the full game on launch day.
As a perk, players who utilise this feature will be awarded a complimentary Frameblade knife skin, an incentive that can be recovered in-game on release.
Customise Your Dune Experience
Before you set foot on the dunes of Arrakis, you'll be tested with the Gom Jabbar and subjected to a profound process of customisation. Players will be able to choose their:

Mentor – Swordmaster, Bene Gesserit, Mentat, or Trooper.
Each will determine your initial abilities and gaming experience. Along the way, you'll be able to access all four Schools, and through this, change and switch between playstyles freely.

The Benchmark Mode also allows you to test how your system performs the game, while displaying stunning in-game scenes such as:

Pre-orders of Dune: Awakening will include the Terrarium of Muad'Dib, a cosmetic in-game item that shows off the wise desert mouse.
