EA Reportedly Blocking “High Energy Heroes” Global Launch Amid “Apex Legends Mobile” Revival Plans
EA is reportedly blocking the global release of High Energy Heroes, a Tencent-developed Apex Legends Mobile clone, amid rumors of Apex’s mobile revival. Learn why EA may be preventing its launch.

Electronic Arts (EA) allegedly prevents the global release of High Energy Heroes, a Tencent-developed game resembling Apex Legends Mobile. With rumors circulating about Apex Legends Mobile’s return, EA appears to be protecting its own interests by keeping a potential competitor out of the global market.
A Clone in the Way of Apex’s Return
High Energy Heroes launched exclusively in China on September 21, 2023, after EA shut down Apex Legends Mobile on May 1 of the same year. The game replicates Apex Legends Mobile’s mechanics, weapons, and gameplay style, with minor changes like a new map and exclusive characters such as Monkey King. Despite these differences, its core gameplay remains identical, making it a direct rival to a potential Apex Legends Mobile relaunch.
EA’s control over the Apex Legends franchise gives it the power to restrict High Energy Heroes from launching worldwide. A similar situation occurred with Hyper Front, a mobile shooter that closely resembled Valorant. Riot Games took legal action and shut it down before Valorant Mobile’s release, ensuring no direct competition.
Financial and Strategic Considerations
Another major factor behind EA’s decision is profit sharing. When Apex Legends Mobile was live, reports suggested Tencent took between 40% and 60% of the revenue. EA may now be seeking to avoid such a partnership, preferring to control the game’s development and earnings entirely. If EA is working on a new Apex Legends Mobile, it would want to maximize profits rather than share them with Tencent.
Leaks and rumors have hinted that EA is actually planning to bring back Apex Legends Mobile, which would make High Energy Heroes a major roadblock. If the Tencent game goes international, it would divide the player base, decreasing interest in EA's possible relaunch. Blocking its release would guarantee the franchise's market dominance.

Fans are waiting with bated breath for an official announcement that could decide the destiny of both games.
