EWC Dota 2 2025: Semifinal Showdown Begins July 18

After a long period of exciting group matches and playoffs, the last four teams have been settled to contend for Dota 2 glory at the Esports World Cup 2025. With two high-pressure quarterfinals now in the history books, the semifinal line-up has been dropped with talent, strategy, and momentum.
Giants Crumble in Quarterfinal Chaos
Day 8 of the tournament brought heartbreak for two of the biggest names in the Dota 2 scene. BetBoom Team and Team Liquid fell short in dramatic fashion. The first quarterfinal witnessed Group B winners BetBoom Team face an adjourned Tundra Esports. Tundra took Game 1 in a nail-biting finish, but BB answered in Game 2 with excellent team fighting and map control. In the deciding game, however, BetBoom faltered under pressure, throwing away a huge lead thanks to a rash of unforced errors. Tundra was able to capitalize on every single blunder to roar into the top 4.
Next were Team Liquid, the TI 2024 defending champions, attempting to resist the rise of Team Falcons. Falcons outclassed Liquid despite its dominant group-stage run, using pinpoint pick-offs and relentless tempo to disrupt Liquid’s emblematic coordination. In a huge upset, Liquid's premature dismissal was destined to end the title defense.
