To rewind real quick:, back in 2022, Epic Games settled for $245 million with the FTC after Fortnite's UI used every trick in the book to make players spend money they didn’t mean to. Yea..
-
People were getting charged for stuff they didn't want
-
Kids were racking up charges without the parents knowing
-
Players who disputed payments got locked out of that account
If that sounds insane, it was. Cue FTC stepping in — and now Epic is literally paying for it.
What's Happening Now?
As of June 25, 2025 — $126 million is being paid out to 969,173 players through PayPal or mailed checks.
If you chose PayPal, you’ve got 30 days to accept the payment
And
If you got a check, cash it within 90 days
And while it's technically a refund, it still feels like free money and what you deserve for what you went through, so don't double guess, any money is money in this economy.
If you already applied before the Feb 14 cutoff and haven't got anything yet, then don't worry. You don't need to do anything, just wait for your cash. Which leads us to
Can You Still Apply?
Yes, you can! The FTC extended its deadline till July 9 2025, so if you missed the first wave, here's your second… just be careful to not keep missing it or you'll face a tsunami instead

How Much Will You Get?
It depends, the exact amount varies depending based on:

What About Future Refunds?
More payments are expected to roll out in 2026, especially for people who filed after Feb 14 but before the new July deadline, as the FTC are still reviewing those.
If you're still double guessing, then don't. Because you're not gonna mess up your Fortnite account by losing any skins, items or anything you already own. It's a win-win situation and honestly a steal, so if you're blessed by the geographic gods then go get your money before the deadline expires.
