Fortnite Servers Experience Widespread Disruptions Amid Chapter 6 Launch

Fortnite servers faced major issues during the Chapter 6, Season 3 launch, affecting login and matchmaking before being resolved by Epic Games.

In June 13, 2025, Fortnite experienced major server issues that resulted in thousands of players being unable to enter the game, enter queuing state, or explore the game interface. Starting time of the problems was at approximately 7:20 PM ET, just after the much-anticipated release of Chapter 6, Season 3. The season introduced a new wave of content, having a superhero theme of such things as the introduction of Robin and Superman, and it had patch 36.00, one of the largest updates of the season.

Epic Games, the game developers, were very responsive on their official Twitter page @fortniteStatus admitting problems with matchmaking and login services. All versions, PC, console, and mobile, experienced widespread log in failures, endless loading screens, and frequent losses of connection. This was quite unfortunate because it coincided with a Duos Console Cash Cup event that was in its progress and competitive players showed their frustrations with greater counts.

Surprisingly, this did not happen only once. It was also not the first time that the game was plagued with server problems, as thousands of gamers have reported the same problems on June 9 and June 5 the same week. All these previous blackouts were tied to specific events like the debut of the Nintendo Switch 2, which could have resulted in exponential growth in players as well as traffic to push on the Epic back end infrastructure.

On the system status portal of Epic, the June 13 outage was reported officially at 23:48 UTC and entirely resolved at 01:28 UTC June 14, which indicated that gamers spent approximately 1.5hrs with access limited and no access. Although Epic Games reacted pretty quickly, such outages that occur when game updates usually attract much attention of many people who play the game frequently make people believe that the game servers are not that stable.

Now that the Chapter 6 update is in effect and servers are being reconnected, fans are advised to look into the new features, but several of them have resorted to becoming skeptical with the potential of more inconveniences as Fortnite scales up its services.
