Frostpunk 2 Set to Launch on Consoles September 18, Confirms 11 Bit Studios

11 Bit Studios confirms Frostpunk 2 will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 18, featuring full PC content and Xbox Game Pass availability.

Developer of Poland, 11 bit studios, has revealed Frostpunk 2 will be launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S this coming September 18, 2025. The game was previously announced for PC, but now it is confirmed that console players, too, shall receive it at the same time. This next chapter in the survival-city genre brings the return of hardship and leadership challenges in the frozen society, now also tailored for console players with improved interfaces and input adjustments.

A Frozen Future With More Tensions

Taking place three decades after the original game’s story, Frostpunk 2 shows how the world remains still frozen and harsh. But this time, it is not coal but oil, which has become the most necessary and also dangerous resource. You will again be the city’s leader, called Steward, and must make decisions on laws, resource allocations, and who to listen to in rising conflict.

The second game is not only the same as the first, but deeper. There are stronger presences of ideologies, more citizen needs, and serious choices that build or break the whole survival effort. Every law passed brings both support and anger, and multiple factions keep watching your step.

Consoles Getting the Same Content as PC

The developer mentioned that console versions of Frostpunk 2 will include the same content as the PC edition. The game has been adapted especially to suit consoles, using a proper redesign of the control layout and menus that fit both the DualSense and the Xbox gamepad. This is meant to allow easier command in even complex moments.

Besides that, 11-bit studios also said the game will come day one to Xbox Game Pass for both PC and console. This is an important strategy that could allow more players to test and enjoy the game world from the beginning without extra spending.

A closed beta happened in June 2025 for those who pre-purchased the Deluxe Edition on PC. Much feedback was received regarding the interface, system balance, and technical performance. Developers worked to apply such changes to improve the final version of the game. These same refinements will also be found in the console release.

In conclusion, Frostpunk 2 is looking to expand the original idea into a wider and more intense experience. Players who are ready to test their leadership under ice and pressure are going to have a great challenge when the new frost arrives in September.
