Hasan Piker Unbanned After 24-Hour “Terrorist Propaganda” Suspension — What Really Happened on Twitch
Twitch banned Hasan Piker for “terrorist propaganda” after analyzing a violent manifesto—but unbanned him just 24 hours later. Here’s what really happened and why the debate over Twitch’s policies won’t die down.

A 24-hour ban. A political firestorm. And once again, Twitch finds itself at the center of a controversy with hasan.
Hasan Piker or HasanAbi is no stranger to Twitch suspensions. With over 6 million followers across platforms, he has established himself as one of the platform’s biggest political commentators and is no stranger to controversies or bans. But this latest ban might just top the rest.
Why Did Twitch Ban Hasan?
i covered the motives of the israeli embassy staff shooter. twitch tos dictates a suspension for even critical examination of the manifesto. i believe this is a bad policy for news and press freedom.

ill take the suspension, but hope twitch changes this policy in the future. pic.twitter.com/52nOS0Lq9H
On May 25, Twitch suspended Hasan for what it called the “improper handling of terrorist propaganda.” It sounds serious, and according to Twitch’s own rules, it is. The policy bans streamers from showing violent extremist content—like manifestos or recruitment footage—even when used for critique or analysis.
Hasan's Response To The Twitch Ban
Hasan says he was doing exactly that: analyzing the motives behind a recent Israeli embassy shooter during a live stream. He wasn't endorsing it, just breaking it down. Still, the platform didn’t budge.
In response, Hasan acknowledged the ban but didn’t hold back. He called Twitch’s enforcement a “bad policy for news and press freedom,” arguing that creators who cover real-world violence critically shouldn’t be punished the same as those promoting it.
Hasan was then unbanned, yep that’s right

Despite the heavy accusation, Hasan’s suspension didn’t last long. Twitch lifted the ban exactly one day later, allowing him to return to streaming almost immediately. It wasn’t the first time a big-name streamer faced a slap on the wrist as punishment — but it reignited a familiar debate: Are Twitch’s rules built for consistency, or convenience?
How Many Times Has Hasan Been Banned ?
This latest hit marks Hasan’s sixth Twitch suspension, and his second in 2025 alone. Earlier this year, he was banned for a heated comment aimed at a U.S. Senator—another case that stirred up headlines but only lasted 24 hours.
His bans are usually brief. But the debates they trigger? Long-lasting.
Every time Hasan gets suspended, the internet splits in two: one side sees him as a creator unafraid to speak up, the other sees a rule-breaker repeatedly getting off easy. Let’s get into it
Community Reaction
If @Twitch cares about the health and stability of the US market they will need to allow legitimate critical analysis of major events on their political channels.

The reactions exposed a deeper frustration: Twitch’s moderation policies still feel like a moving target. What’s allowed? What crosses the line? No one really knows—and that’s part of the problem. Hasan’s case only turns up the heat. If Twitch wants to support creators who dive into politics and journalism, it needs to figure out where the line is and whether it’s drawing it for safety or for censorship.
He’s back now. But the questions Twitch keeps dodging? They’re still on stream and the voices will only get louder.
