The next update of Honkai: Star Rail, named For the Sun Is Set to Die will release on July 2, 2025 in the majority of the regions. The new long-awaited version introduces a new roster of new and recurring characters, not to mention a crossover featuring another franchise - Fate/stay night. Gamers can look forward to two significant banner occasions with distinctive options of various characters in the game formation.
Phase 1 (July 2 – July 22/23)
There is the initial phase which brings a brand new five star character, Phainon. She is a physical-type character of the way of destruction. Phainon has a skill of collecting the deposits of the reflected energy named in-game as the Coreflames during the fights, which may help her to implement a unique field effect referred to as "Territory." On activation, this effect increases damage and can strengthen her in terms of status, which provides gamers with more control in the fight. The techniquepoint limit of the team is also increased by Phainon which brings tactical depth.
Three very popular characters of the Harmony series are experiencing reruns in the Phase 1 banners: Sunday, Sparkle, and Tribbie, along with her. The units will provide robust support options, and they can be used in most team strategies.
The significant peak of Phase 1 is a special collaboration of Fate/stay night, which will be released on July 11. Through this event, two five-star characters are being introduced:
-
Saber: Wind Destruction very high AoE damage unit with special Core Resonance effects.
-
Archer: A Quantum Hunt member whose skills are related to extending frequent ability use and subsequent attacks via his ability called the Unlimited Blade Works.
And an additional bonus is that Archer will be free during an in-game show, until the end of Version 3.6.
Phase 2 (July 23 – August 12)
The second part of the update is devoted to mighty re-runs:
-
Decine (Destruction) (Fire, Destruction)
-
Jingliu (Ice, Destruction)
-
Blade (Wind, Destruction)
These characters have an excellent potential in terms of damage and significantly contribute to end game content. Among the 4-star characters to be introduced in this stage are Hanya, Lynx and and Luka, which leaves the players with a broader selection in team composition.
The version 3.4 also introduces the changes in balances of existing characters. Examples are Silver Wolf, Blade, Kafka and Jingliu that are being given a buff to their skills and Eidolons therefore giving them an all round better fight.
