Upgrades That Redefine Hanzo & Trade-Offs That Balance Power
Hanzo's ultimate no longer requires demon blood to be extended, allowing players to activate and rely on it without the hassle of collecting resources. Additionally, during his ultimate, Hanzo's physical form is immune to damage, making him less vulnerable to heroes like Natalia or Hilda. The removal of defense reduction in his ghost form also opens up the possibility of tankier builds. Hanzo’s ultimate cooldown is now significantly shorter, especially with cooldown reduction items, bringing his map presence to new heights. His first skill now ignores 30% of the enemy's defense while healing him for 30% of his max HP, giving him both offense and survivability. His second skill has also been improved with a ranged knock-up, making combos smoother and more impactful.
However, these upgrades come with trade-offs that balance his power. The duration of Hanzo's ultimate now depends on the purple buff; without it, his ultimate lasts for only 8 seconds, compared to 10 seconds with the buff. Additionally, stealing buffs requires applying stacks to enemies first, adding a layer of complexity to his gameplay. Hanzo’s ghost form now moves slower, making it harder to chase enemies and pushing players to rely on speed items. Damage taken while in ghost form now reflects on Hanzo’s body upon returning, which means players need to carefully manage engagements to avoid being left vulnerable.
The new Hanzo brings with him an exciting mix of aggressive potential and strategic depth. Even if his upgrades make him a terrifying threat to squishy heroes, the added complexities and vulnerabilities will ensure that he stays balanced.
