How to Get All Eevee Evolutions in Pokémon Go?
Eevee can evolve into eight different Pokémon, each with its own type, based on specific conditions in Pokémon GO.

Eevee might look like a cute, regular Normal-type Pokémon, but do you know what makes Eevee so special in the game? Well, it can evolve into eight different forms, each with a unique type and method of evolution. But getting every form isn’t as straightforward as just spending Candy. Each evolution has its own set of conditions. I'm talking about simple ones, more complicated ones, or using rare items. So, as a Pokémon Trainer, you need to be very familiar with every method and trick of evolution for your favorite Pokémon.
Method One: Eevee Nickname Trick
Let's start with the easiest method first. The easiest method of acquiring each Eeveelution is through the nickname trick. This is a one-time option for each evolution. By renaming your Eevee to a specific name according to the character references of the Pokémon franchise, you can induce it to evolve into the desired form. Following is the list of names to use:
Vaporeon – Rename your Eevee to “Rainer”
Jolteon – Rename your Eevee to “Sparky”
Flareon – Rename your Eevee to “Pyro”
Espeon – Rename your Eevee to “Sakura”
Umbreon – Rename your Eevee to “Tamao”
Leafeon – Rename your Eevee to “Linnea”
Glaceon – Rename your Eevee to “Rea”
Sylveon – Rename your Eevee to “Kira”
Not to mention, this only works once per form. The trick won’t work again once you’ve used each name. So make it count, or maybe use your highest IV or shiny Eevee.
Now, assuming the method is clear to you. Let’s see how you can change the name of Pokémon for this.
- Tap on the Eevee you want to evolve.
- At the top of the screen, you’ll see its current name. Click on the Pencil icon. You can find it right next to the name.
- Type in the nickname for the evolution from the list above you want (like "Sakura" for Espeon or "Kira" for Sylveon).
- Press OK after typing to save the new name.
- Wait a second and make sure the evolve button now shows the silhouette of the evolution you want. This confirms the nickname trick has been recognized by the game.
Method Two: Specific Evolutions
As said earlier, the Nickname method only works once per form; that is why you’ll need to rely on the traditional in-game evolution methods to get the others. Let’s see how this works.
Evolving Espeon and Umbreon
For both of these Pokémon, once you've used the nickname trick, you'll need to follow the Buddy evolution process. For this, set Eevee as your Buddy and travel at least 10 kilometers with it. You're also going to receive two candies in the process. Then, make Eevee an active Buddy and evolve it during the daytime for Espeon or nighttime for Umbreon.
The good news is that you can repeat this method again and again, so you can use it whenever you require another Espeon or Umbreon, of course, if the walking and timing criteria are met.
Evolving Leafeon and Glaceon
For Leafeon and Glaceon, you’ll need special Lure Modules: a Mossy Lure for Leafeon and a Glacial Lure for Glaceon. These Lures can be purchased in the in-game shop for 200 PokéCoins or sometimes earned through events and research tasks. Place the correct Lure at a PokéStop and make sure you’re within its radius. Then, simply evolve your Eevee.
Evolving Sylveon
Trust me, Sylveon requires the most patience but is also one of the most rewarding. Sylveon's evolutions will require you to collect 70 Buddy Hearts. You can just make your Eevee a buddy and feed it, walk it, battle, take snapshots, and visit new places with it. All of them give hearts, but there's a limit per day. Despite this not being something difficult to achieve, yes, this requires enormous patience.
Evolving Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon
I deliberately placed the bad news last. Unfortunately, apart from the nickname trick, there is no other way to evolve your Eevee into this trio. Even with the name trick, the original three evolutions from Generation 1 evolving become a bit of a gamble. You just have to spend 25 Candy and the rest. Which one you will get from this trio is completely luck-based. Basically, you have to take a few tries if you are willing to get them all.
By combining the nickname trick and these evolution-specific conditions, you’ll have all eight Eeveelutions in no time. Like many trainers, you are also wondering which Eevee evolution is best among all. Then, based on the damage-dealing capabilities, Sylveon will be the best to put your effort into.
