MLBB MPL Singapore S9 Launches with Bold New Structure; Check Details
MPL Singapore S9 debuts a bold new format with roving matches and community-driven play.

MPL Singapore is revising the playbook for Season 9 with sweeping reforms that represent a bold new leap for the region's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports scene. With a mobile-centric league system, greater community engagement, and celebrity-approbated collaborations, the new season promises a more interactive, community-driven, and immersive experience for players and fans alike.
A First-of-Its-Kind Roving Season
Breaking away from tradition, MPL Singapore will take action on the road. For the first time, regular season matches will be held across various venues islandwide, bringing the excitement of professional MLBB competition directly to local communities. This “roving league” format is designed to deepen fan engagement and showcase the game to a wider audience.
Empowering the Community
Season 9 is being hailed as the most community-driven iteration yet. Amateur teams will now have a direct path to compete alongside seasoned pros, breaking down barriers in the competitive scene. The new four-stage season structure includes:
- Seeded Stage – Five invited teams begin the competition.
- Challenger Qualifiers – Up to 64 community teams compete for advancement.
- Challenger Stage – Top-performing challengers face off against the seeded squads.
- Last Chance Qualifiers – The lowest-seeded team and top challengers battle for the final playoff spot.
The top six teams from this journey will face off in the playoffs, vying for an SGD 40,000 prize pool and a coveted slot in the MLBB Mid-Season Cup at the 2025 Esports World Cup.
Big Names, Bigger Impact
Season 9 also welcomes major commercial support. Head & Shoulders joins as official partner, releasing limited-edition products which feature fan-favorite MLBB heroes Zilong and Layla. Meanwhile, real estate giant CapitaLand becomes the official Venue Partner, providing event infrastructure as the league travels across Singapore.
Paving the Future of Esports in Singapore
As Daniel Chew, MOONTON Games' Head of Esports for Singapore and Cambodia, explains, these broad changes are intended to create a sustainable and inclusive ecosystem. A launch promo video has also been rolled out, emphasizing the new format and the exciting prospects for both players and fans.
