My Hero Academia: You're Next Set to Debut on Netflix April 20
My Hero Academia: You’re Next makes its highly anticipated streaming debut on Netflix starting April 20, 2025, bringing explosive action, emotional stakes, and a dark twist to the beloved hero saga.

Great news for My Hero Academia fans! Netflix has officially said that My Hero Academia: You’re Next will start streaming on April 20, 2025. The movie was first shown in theaters in October 2024, and now it’s finally coming to Netflix in the U.S., Canada, and more places. This is the first time fans can watch it on a streaming service. So if you missed it in theaters or just want to see it again, you can soon watch it from home!
What My Hero Academia: You’re Next Is All About
You’re Next, directed by Tensai Okamura, is set in a world that’s trying to recover after a huge battle between heroes and villains. Just as things start to calm down, a huge moving fortress appears and starts destroying towns. Then, a mysterious person appears — and he looks exactly like All Might. But instead of bringing hope, this new villain calls himself Dark Might, and he’s here to spread fear.
Deku and the students of Class 1-A step up to face him. With the help of the shady Gollini Family crime syndicate, Dark Might pushes the heroes to their limits, making them question everything they thought they knew. The movie has lots of action, emotional scenes, and a great story. Even though it happens right before the final part of the main series, you can still enjoy it on its own.

Streaming Strategy and Global Availability
Netflix picking up My Hero Academia: You’re Next is part of its bigger push into anime. While the main series is spread out across platforms like Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Starz, this movie will be Netflix-exclusive for now, giving it a solid edge over the competition.
In the U.S., You’re Next joins other My Hero Academia titles already on Netflix, like Seasons 1–3, Two Heroes, and Heroes Rising. Some other countries also have access to the World Heroes Mission, but what’s available can vary depending on where you live.
A Milestone for Director and Franchise
You’re Next is also a big deal for director Tensai Okamura, since it’s his first feature film since Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow back in 2004. The movie has a 7.0 rating on IMDb and people are loving the cool animation and action scenes. Fans and critics are mostly giving the movie a thumbs up. The Direct praised its emotional scenes and action.
As Netflix grows its anime collection, My Hero Academia: You’re Next is a great addition for both fans and subscribers. It also builds more excitement for the upcoming live-action adaptation, which is still in the works though it’s not clear yet if Netflix will be involved.
Netflix is also putting out the new spinoff My Hero Academia: Vigilantes in some Asian regions, showing that it's serious about growing its anime lineup. Don’t forget, My Hero Academia: You’re Next comes to Netflix on April 20. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the series, this movie is a fun and action-packed addition to the hero world.
