Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update: New Game+ and Level Cap Expansion Arrives July 29 on PS5
Assassin’s Creed Shadows gets New Game+ mode, level cap raised to 80, and new progression features in a major update releasing July 29 on PS5.

Ubisoft has confirmed that a big Progression Update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming on 29 July 2025. The New Game+ mode will be released first on PS5 and will also be available later on Xbox Series and PC. Players who have already finished the story can begin a second play, with many things carried forward—like the level, gear, skill points, Hideout parts, and Knowledge ranking.
It also allows players to skip the introduction and early missions, so they don’t need to go back to the beginning. For completing New Game+ once, rewards will be given like unlockable costumes, special items, and trophies that were not available before. This makes replaying more valuable if someone likes to continue the journey.
New Level Cap, Extra Systems Get Added
With the same update, the level limit will go from 60 to 80, which is higher than before. This will give harder tasks to players already finishing the base game. Together with that, new Mastery levels, Knowledge Rank and Forge Upgrades in Hideout will become available, such as the new Heiji’s Forge, which lets players do Mythic and Artifact improvements to their items.
A new gameplay route called Project 3 is also going to be in the Animus menu. This section gives rewards that are linked with the Animus theme, and many challenges that are unique. You can start it at any time and don’t need to stop the progress of the other project. It gives another way to play, without deleting other saves.
Coming After: September Patch and Big Expansion
After this July patch, Ubisoft says there will be another fixing update in early September. This update is bringing changes like skipping time of day, also removing fog on maps after climbing viewpoints, and on PC, cutscenes will no longer have a frame cap. More adjustments should also be made to the Hideout area and Forge uses.
Then, on 16 September, the DLC expansion Claws of Awaji is going to launch. There are 10+ hours of content, a new Awaji Island region, and many legendary weapons and skills for both Naoe and Yasuke. If someone pre-ordered the game before, they get the expansion free. Others need to buy it if they want to play it.
