Roblox Rolls Out New Avatar Settings to Empower Game Creators with Greater Control
Roblox introduces expanded Avatar Settings, giving developers powerful tools to control avatar size, collision, clothing, and accessories in Studio.

Roblox rolled out new Avatar Settings on 21 July 2025. This update brings many more controls to developers who are creating games in Studio. Before, many were depending on custom codes for changing how avatars appear and act inside the game, which was not always working correctly. With this update, creators can now do such adjustments from inside Roblox Studio itself without extra scripting.
The Avatar Settings are found under the Avatar section, or they can also be accessed from the File menu. Some pre-made presets are also provided, like Player Choice, where the avatar of the user is not changed, and Consistent Gameplay, which does force all avatars to behave the same, especially in competitive game types.
Size Limiting, Colliders, and Gear Adjusting Features
These added features come mainly to solve problems related to avatar inconsistencies:
-
Changing the size of the avatar: Developers can fix a specific height or just put a range, and the avatar will scale automatically. Even after changing, the shape of the avatar does not become broken.
-
Collision shape and physics: A box-type collider can now be selected for all avatars. This makes sure players do not get an advantage or a different reaction due to an unusual avatar shape.
-
Clothes and accessories filter: You can remove clothes that are oversized or replace some category of accessories with fixed items. There is also a way to assign assets by ID or override default ones.
Creators can see a preview of avatars all together in a row using the preview lineup tool in the settings panel. This is very useful to check if the visuals stay proper after applying changes.
Roblox says that clothing settings are temporarily disabled because of a technical issue they are solving. The accessory part still works well and is safe to use.
How Does It Help to Improve Fair Gameplay
These controls are becoming very useful, especially in games where balance is needed. If an avatar is too tall or small, it sometimes causes an unfair win condition. Now, developers don’t need to write separate scripts again and again. It makes their work simpler.
In roleplay and storytelling games, avatar uniqueness is kept while also putting some limits to match the game design. Roblox’s goal is to make it easier and more flexible for creators to work and give good experiences for players.
So, this feature update shows that Roblox is taking steps for better creation tools, giving more control and reducing issues that before cost time and effort to fix.
