Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Mid-July Tera Raid: Dates, Boss, and Best Counters

An exciting new challenge is on its way to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. After mid-July, trainers will be able to go up against Kommo-o the Unrivaled in this limited-time Seven-Star Tera Raid Battle event. This pseudo-legendary from Pokemon Sun and Moon, along with the Fighting-type Terraform and exclusive Mightiest Mark, will be a far challenge for trainers and a must for collectors. 

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Mid-July Tera Raid Schedule, Availability, Kommo-o’s Strengths and Moveset

Trainers will be given two opportunities to battle Kommo-o the Unrivaled for the month. The first raid window is July 10 at 8:00 PM ET until July 13 at 7:59 PM ET. The second round is from July 17 to July 20 during those same times. This powerful Seven-Star Tera Raid will be available across all of Paldea and there is only one chance for players to catch Kommo-o per save file, so make sure to come prepared.

As a mixed attacker with high physical defense, Kommo-o can dish out serious damage while taking hits. Its potential moveset includes:

• Clanging Scales

• Aura Sphere

• Earthquake

• Clangorous Soul (boosts all stats at once)

Trainers will need to prepare for a long, tactical fight as Kommo-o boosts its stats and hits with both physical and special attacks.

Best Counters and Strategy Tips

Kommo-o’s Dragon/Fighting typing leaves it vulnerable to Fairy-type attacks. Top counter picks include:

• Flutter Mane – Speedy and hard-hitting

• Sylveon – Great bulk and access to Hyper Voice

• Galarian Weezing – Disrupts buffs and provides support

Consider bringing support Pokémon that can neutralize stat boosts or provide healing to your team.

Abilities to Watch Out For

Kommo-o may have one of the following abilities:

• Soundproof: Nullifies sound-based moves like Screech

• Bulletproof: Blocks moves like Aura Sphere and Acid Spray
  Overcoat (Hidden Ability): Protects from weather-based damage

Use counters like Skill Swap, Worry Seed, or Gastro Acid to eliminate these abilities and expose their weaknesses.

This Seven-Star Tera Raid will be more than just another battle; it is the means we obtain one of the strongest marked Pokémon in the game. While everyone likely has their iteration of why they want Kommo-o the Unrivalled, whether alone or in ensemble group-based play, it is a battle that you don't want to miss.
