Resident Evil 9 Leaks: The Next Big Evolution in Horror Gaming?

Capcom has yet to officially announce Resident Evil 9, but according to a well-known industry leaker, the next entry in the survival horror franchise will be a major shift for the series on par with the revolutionary changes brought by Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7.
Reputable leaker Aesthetic Gamer, aka Dusk Golem, has claimed that Resident Evil 9 will not follow the gameplay styles of RE7/Village or the recent remakes. Instead, Capcom is reportedly “trying new things” with an “ambitious” approach. While details remain vague, the leaker suggests this could be one of the biggest shake-ups in the series' history.
Conflicting Rumors and Speculation
Various leaks have suggested different possibilities for Resident Evil 9. Some claim the game will feature RE veterans Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine, though others dispute this. There's also speculation that RE9 could be fully open-world, while other sources suggest it will retain the structured gameplay of RE7 and Village.
With no confirmation from Capcom, all of this remains speculation. However, if Dusk Golem’s information is accurate, the game could mark a dramatic departure from previous entries.

Capcom has never shied away from evolving the Resident Evil formula. RE4 introduced an over-the-shoulder camera and more action-focused gameplay, while RE7 reinvented the series with a first-person perspective and heightened horror elements. If Resident Evil 9 is set to be another reinvention, it raises the question: how far will Capcom push the boundaries this time?
