What happens when you wake up in a locked hospital room as a test subject? Alone, confused and scared…you have no choice but to look for answers and attempt to escape or be met with danger lurking at every step.
Now, what would you do in that scenario? That's the challenge Resident Evil: Survival Unit is bringing straight to our phones. Let's get into it
What Is Resident Evil: Survival Unit?
RE:SU is a strategy game — the first of its kind. Thus, every move results in different consequences. It's based on a parallel world but has the same timeline as RE 2 and 3. Meaning, things can go south real quick. For now, anything is possible but it has been clarified that unique traits and relationships have been carried over.
Instead, what we do know, thanks to Shinji Hashimoto (executive producer) is where our base operations will take place: the mansion. A place where players will prepare for all aspects of RE:SU. It's a place to interact with iconic characters and purchase items from the Weapons Merchant from the original series
Interestingly enough, RE:SU seems to be intentionally focusing on more underrated characters. Fan favourites like Chris or Rebecca are missing but they may be added in later updates. Curious about the characters?
Characters Appearing In Resident Evil: Survival Unit
For now we don't have the full list of characters, so here are some of the known characters as of now: Leon, Claire, Jill, Carlos and Marvin. All of them have different abilities or characteristics like Leon's "outstanding abilities" or Jill's powerful weapons. Players thus have the chance to make cross-title teams as well.
Alongside this, a special creature was created by none other than the globally recognized artist, “Yoshitaka Amano” solely for this game. By focusing on creating psychological unease, he aimed to create a presence that lingers. The creature - ‘Mortem’ will play a huge role in the game.
Do Note: Pre-registration will only be available for US citizens, however players will get rewards once certain milestones are met. Resident Evil: Survival Unit is expected to come by late 2025, are you excited for what's to come or did you expect more?
