Revival: Recolonization Brings Post-Apocalyptic 4X Strategy to Xbox on June 16
Revival: Recolonization launches June 16 on Xbox Series and Xbox One with tactical 4X gameplay, dynamic worlds, and console-optimized controls.

The unique 4X post-apocalyptic game, Revival: Recolonization, is now on its way to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on June 16, and fans of deep strategy can finally see what the buzz was all about. The game, which has been available on PC, now makes its way to consoles, featuring smart delivery and other enhancements. Pre-orders are live now with a 20% discount, making it $23.99 for a limited time.
From Steam to the Console Space
After being in Early Access for a bit on Steam starting back in June 2023, the full PC release landed just earlier this year in April. The developers—HeroCraft PC—have been continuously updating and improving it ever since. The game stood out with how it allows the world rules to be changed on the fly, and even lets players ban weapons, or deal with zombies or freaky weather, all during the campaign. That randomness is what made each playthrough feel different than the last.
Redefining What a 4X Strategy Could Be
Power Over the Land
The game gives players a bunch of "edicts" they can issue to change not only land features but also the core rules of that area. You can build shields, bless tribes, or even cut off access to certain techs. These decisions are felt right away, and that's part of what makes the game so responsive.
Time-Shifting Progress
Instead of starting as a major empire, players begin as small survivors and grow slowly across several "epochs." With each age, new technologies and units come up, giving you more ways to shape your faction's identity.
Combat That's Not Just Click and Win
Battles happen on hex-based maps, and they’re tactical in nature. You don’t just send units, you’ll need to think—because cover gets destroyed, and units are built piece by piece. So the ones you make are your own creations, in a sense.
What’s Left of the Earth
Exploration here actually feels rewarding. Not only are you looking for resources, but also ancient ruins, artifacts, and sometimes weird creatures. The world is ruined but also strange in a mysterious kind of way.

The Xbox Edition Gets Some Love
The game isn’t just ported—it’s reworked a bit for consoles. A new trailer showed updated controller support, better menu flows, and visual polish. Xbox players also get achievements, cloud saves, and of course, that smart delivery perk.

Wrapping It Up
While strategy games of this type don’t always land well on console, Revival: Recolonization might just prove otherwise. The way it lets you twist the rules and constantly adapt makes it stand out. And with the price cut for early birds, it’s a good excuse to give it a try. The Earth may be broken, but rebuilding it has never been this inventive.
