Riot Games Unveils League of Legends-Inspired TCG: Project K
Riot Games unveils Project K, a League of Legends-inspired tabletop card game, promising social and competitive gameplay.

Riot Games has officially revealed Project K, a tabletop card game (TCG) rooted in the expansive League of Legends universe. In a four-minute announcement video released today, the team introduced the game as a "League IP game that we think deeply serves the need of a different kind of audience," blending familiar League locations, characters, and abilities with a fresh approach to card-based gameplay.
To the Table: A Game for Everyone
Project K is designed to be a highly social TCG, emphasizing multiplayer engagement while fully supporting one-on-one gameplay. Riot Games ambitiously describes it as “the best social TCG out there and something that you will enjoy.” The game aims to foster a competitive ecosystem starting from grassroots events, and scaling up to global tournaments.
The development team expressed their intent to make the game accessible to players worldwide, stating:
“We want to get cards into everyone’s hands as soon as possible. But we do want to ensure that wherever you live, you have the best experience from day one, including that competitive ecosystem and of course, cards and accessories in your language.”

A Strategic Rollout
Project K will debut first in China, where Riot has already secured a manufacturer and distributor. The English versions of the launch box set are expected to open for pre-orders later this year. Riot’s regional focus highlights its intent to deliver a polished, localized experience from the start.
Despite the buzz, the video was notably light on gameplay specifics, leaving fans curious about mechanics and playstyle. Some drew comparisons to Riot's existing digital card game, Legends of Runeterra, noting similarities in artistic elements.
It's a daring step forward into physical gaming for Riot Games with Project K centered around leveraging its League of Legends IP to entice fans and serious gamers alike. Little is known about the game, but its online social aspect and competitive thrust promise to take its own twist on tabletop gaming.
The community awaits further announcements with cautious optimism, eager to see if Project K can live up to Riot’s ambitious claims. Will it revolutionize the TCG landscape, or simply cater to die-hard League fans? Only time will tell.
