The Blood of the Dawnwalker Brings Dark Vampire Action to Xbox and PC in 2026
Unveiled at Xbox Showcase 2025, The Blood of the Dawnwalker is a dark vampire RPG from Rebel Wolves, launching in 2026 for Xbox, PS5, and PC.

The gameplay trailer for The Blood of the Dawnwalker was shown at Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, 2025. The story begins with a man named Coen, who becomes a Dawnwalker. He wasn’t born as one, but they forced him into it. A vampire thing happened to him, and he’s not totally human anymore. In the video, he says, “They tried to turn me into one of them, but I became their greatest nightmare.” The trailer feels heavy, violent, and very much sad too.
Made by Those Witcher Guys
This game is being made by Rebel Wolves, who was formed by developers that was on The Witcher 3 before. So obviously, expectations are being high. Bandai Namco is the publisher. The game is using Unreal Engine 5 so it look pretty impressive to look at. Coming out on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PCs later in 2026.
The combat looks fast, but also tactical, maybe? You see Coen does sword-fighting and using claws or vampire magic—sometimes he turns into smoke and just appears somewhere else like instantly. Very action-packed yet not chaotic, if that makes sense.
Land Where Plague Rules
The game happens in Vale Sangora. It’s a place with death, plague and vampires all over. People are suffering from some “blood tax” that vampire lords put on them. The vampires are strong and kind of terrifying, especially the main bad one, Brencis. Environments are dark and misty, lots of castles and muddy roads and forest-looking places.
Time Waits for No Vampire
An interesting part of the game is how it handles time. You've got 30 days and 30 nights to do something—saving Coen’s family I think—and the time only moves forward when quests are completed. It means you can explore, but if you wait too long doing nothing important, it won’t help. This adds pressure to every decision, even small ones.
Half Human Half Creature
Because Coen is a Dawnwalker, he is in-between two worlds. Nighttime gives him vampire powers, like invisibility, claws and smoke travel. But in day, he is more human. We see in trailer that he sometimes questions himself, like if all this blood and darkness is worth what he’s lost. That’s deeper than a usual action game.
The Release and Livestream
Game comes out in 2026 for new-gen consoles and PC. But before that, a special stream called Solstice is happening on June 21, which gonna show 15 minutes of gameplay and probably a bit of dev talk. They say it will show more about how fighting works and how quests play out.
Comparing To The Witcher Again
People online already saying it's like The Witcher, just with vampires instead of monsters. One Reddit comment said, “This feels like Witcher but darker and cursed.” Which maybe true, since team behind it worked on that game before. But it’s not exactly same either.
Fans are excited, but some wait to see how different it really is.
Final Words for Now
So far, The Blood of the Dawnwalker looks like a strong RPG, with serious themes and sharp gameplay. It’s stylish, gloomy, and a bit tragic. With such a team behind, it has a chance to be something special—only time will show if it delivers or not.
