Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition Dynasties of India trailer details new civilizations

The Bengalis

The unique unit for the Bengalis is the Ratha. It is a chariot that can switch between melee and ranged attack modes. The strengths of this civilization lie in its use of elephants and naval units. The elephant units would receive 25% less bonus damage and they are more resistant to conversion. Each time the next Age is reached, 2 Villagers have spawned automatically at Bengali Town Centers.

The Dravidians

This civilization finds its strength in infantry and naval units. Urumi Swordsman is their unique unit which is strong against other infantry and buildings but prone to defeat against archers operating from long range. The Dravidian warship, Thirisadai, fires multiple projectiles and it is particularly strong against other warships. The civilization receives 200 wood at each Age progression whereas barrack technologies costs are halved for the Dravidians.

The Gurjaras

The Gurjaras have three prominent and unique units each with its own skillsets to take advantage of. Chakram Thrower is their infantry unit that performs ranged melee attacks. There’s also a light cavalry unit called Shrivamsha Rider which is a great asset against archers. Camel Scout is their exclusive scout unit which is strong against cavalry but perceptibly weak against pikemen, archers, and monks.

Three voiced campaigns added to the game

Babur campaign would follow the story of Zahir ud-Din Muhammad, the youngest descendant of Tamerlane. He embarks on a quest to restore the empire. In this campaign, players will take on the role of the Tatars and Hindustanis. The Rajendra campaign will see Rajendra Chola who will be in south India looking to expand the empire of his father. Gamers would play as the Dravidians in this campaign. The Devapala campaign would tell the story of Devapala who would be tested during the campaign to keep his empire away from threats. The Bengalis are the playable civilization in this campaign.

There are also 23 new achievements that have been added to Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.
