Epic Games, the company behind the popular Battle Royale game Fortnite has shared some new information. As part of the latest announcement, the company has just shared some vital details around the game on next-gen consoles. The company also noted that the next-gen version of Fortnite will be available for the PlayStation 5 lineup, and the Xbox Series X series at launch. It went on to state that the next-gen version of the game is not just a port of the PS4 or Xbox One X versions. According to the dedicated post on the Fornite website, players can easily carry forward their progress on the new consoles. Beyond this, the game can easily achieve 60fps at 4K on Xbox Series X and PS5. The Xbox Series S can also hit 60fps, but the resolution is limited to 1080p. Both the console lineups will also come with “dynamic visuals” and improved physics. As per the physics improvements, trees and grass in the game will respond to explosions. Epic Games has also improved the fluid simulations for liquid and smoke in the game. This will result in “cooler-looking smoke and liquid effects” along with the newly added cloud and storm effects.

Other obvious improvements extend to the performance department on the game. These performance improvements will result in shorter loading times, improved texture loading, and consequently a seamless gameplay experience. Epic Games has also extended the 60fps support to the Split Screen mode on the Xbox Series X lineup and PS5 series. Taking a closer look, PS5 users will get more next-generation upgrades as compared to Xbox Series X and S users.

Some of the additional next-generation upgrades available to PS5 users include support for DualSense controller immersion. This immersion includes general vibration support for weapons like Suppressed SMG to haptic trigger feedback for ranged weapons. Fornite will also support PS5 activities which allow players to directly jump into the Battle Royale Lobby from the console home screen. Epic Games is also bringing back the classic “Throwback Axe Pickaxe” from Season 1 as a freebie to all the players from November 4 to remember the past.
