Play Magnus Group has just started the first day of its Goldmoney Asian Rapid Chess event on June 26, 2021. This event is the seventh leg of the ongoing Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. As reported previously, the tournament started back in November 2020 with finals scheduled for September 2021. The Goldmoney Asian Rapid features a total prize pot of and the event will go on for 9 days. Play Magnus Group, the event organizer, has roped in India Today Gaming as the official streaming partner for the tournament. Goldmoney Asian Rapid: Preliminaries Day 1 details
The event will follow an ATP-style format with a total of 16-players taking part in the tournament. Some of the key players to take part in the event include Magnus Carlsen, the current tour leader, and four players from India. This Indian player lineup includes Gukesh D, Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi, Grandmaster Adhiban Baskaran, and Arjun Erigaisi. Play Magnus Group noted that with four invitations, India has the most players in the tournament.
Other players include the world’s top female player, Hou Yifan, and Saleh Salem, the first player from UAE. It is worth noting that Yifan is the first female player to take part in the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour so far. The rest of the lineup includes Grandmaster Wesley So, Grandmaster Anish Giri, Grandmaster Levon Aronian, and Grandmaster Alireza Firouzja. This continues with Grandmaster Ding Liren, Grandmaster Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Grandmaster Vladislav Artemiev, Grandmaster Daniil Dubov, and Grandmaster Peter Svidler. Grandmaster Wesley So currently holds the second spot in the tour along with Grandmaster Anish Giri on the fourth spot.

As noted above, India Today Gaming will live stream the Hindi and English streams on its YouTube channel. Interested fans can tune in at 4:30 PM to catch the action live. Other streaming locations include the chess24 YouTube and Twitch channels and Eurosport app. Besides this, the tournament will also broadcast live on TV 2, a Norwegian TV station.
