Microsoft India slashes the Xbox Game Pass price; plans start from Rs. 349 per month

Microsoft India has just announced new pricing for its game subscription service, Xbox Game Pass in the country. As part of the announcement, the company shared details about the multiple tiers of Game Pass along with multi-month plans. This comes as a surprise as Microsoft has not done much around promoting Xbox and its first-party games in the country. The last time the company conducted an activity to highlight any Microsoft game title was in January 2022. Back then, Microsoft teamed up with Taco Bell to highlight Age of Empires IV, a game that first launched in October 2021. Microsoft Xbox Game Pass new pricing for India out; details
The company shared the new pricing through an email release outlining the changes across all the different Game Pass plans. Regardless of the lack of activities from Microsoft India, this announcement is a piece of welcome news for gamers. The highlight of the changes includes the reduction of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from Rs. 699 to Rs. 499. Besides this, Microsoft has reduced the price of PC Game Pass, Console Game Pass, and Xbox Live from Rs. 489 to Rs. 349 per month.
In addition to the reduction in monthly plans, Microsoft has also reduced the pricing of the multi-month plans. Curiously, the multi-month plans are almost in line with the per-month plans and don't offer any increased savings to the gamers. The changes will come into effect from Monday, March 21. Microsoft also shared a statement around the rationale behind the changes stating, “We regularly evaluate the price of Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold at a local level to best serve customers in each country.”
The statement went on with, “These price adjustments were informed and based on local market conditions in each country. This is simply a continuation of the price adjustments we made in select countries late last year.” For some context, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes benefits that come with Xbox Live Gold, PC Game Pass, Console Game Pass, and EA Play membership.
