Play Magnus Group teams with India Today Gaming to stream its Goldmoney Asian Rapid Chess event

Play Magnus Group has just announced that it is teaming with India Today Gaming to stream its upcoming chess tournament. The tournament organizer will stream the Goldmoney Asian Rapid Chess event on India Today Gaming YouTube channel. Meltwater Champions Chess Tour marks the first time where the world's best will be determined through “a full competitive season of online chess”. The tournament kick-started in November 2020 with finals set for September this year.

Goldmoney Asian Rapid part of the tournament will start on June 26 and will go on till July 4, 2021. Play Magnus Group has invited four of its top players to compete on the Asian stage. Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Goldmoney Asian Rapid Chess event details out

The event offers a total prize pot worth . Play Magnus Group also stated that the Asian Rapid is following the ATP-style format and marks the seventh leg of the season. It is a 16-player online rapid chess event that will run go on for 9 days. The invited list of Indian chess players includes Grandmasters Vidit Gujrathi and Adhiban Baskaran along with Gukesh D and Arjun Erigaisi. All four qualified or received wild cards to enter the Asian Rapid. Play Magnus Group states that India managed to bag the most invitations during the entire Chess Tour in a single event.

A Play Magnus Group spokesperson also shared a statement in response to this development. The spokesperson added, “With four players qualifying, India has the highest number of players taking part in a Tour event so far. Indian chess has a very bright future and for that reason, we are delighted to team up with India Gaming Today.”

Besides the list of Indian players, the Goldmoney Asian Rapid Chess event will also feature the current tour leader Magnus Carlsen. Other notable players participating in the event include Saleh Salem, the first player from UAE, and Hou Yifan. Yifan is currently the top female chess player in the world, and she will be the first woman to compete in Meltwater Champions Chess Tour.

Following Goldmoney Asian Rapid Chess event, the Play Magnus Group will organize two more legs before the final event. The organizer has also partnered with Goldmoney for the Asian Rapid event. Besides the social media channels of India Today Gaming, Goldmoney Asian Rapid will also stream on multiple platforms across the world. These platforms include the Norwegian TV, the Eurosport app, and the YouTube and Twitch channels of chess24.
