This new information comes weeks after the company held its first sale in the market and the console went out of stock in minutes. Let’s check everything new around the PlayStation 5 including the restock, scalping, and more.

It appears that Sony India is working to replenish the depleted stocks of its latest gaming console, the PlayStation 5. This new information comes weeks after the company held its first sale in the market and the console went out of stock in minutes. In fact, several reports emerged later stating that some sale channels had to cancel all their orders. Since the first sale, potential PlayStation 5 buyers have been waiting to hear from Sony regarding the next sale. In addition, we have also seen several instances of scalping on several marketplaces like OLX, etc. Now, some new indication of possible incoming stock has just surfaced online. Let’s check everything new around the PlayStation 5 including the possible next sale, scalping, and more.

Sony PlayStation 5 restock may come soon; details

According to a report from IGN India, it is likely that Sony could restock the PS5 supply “sooner than anticipated”. It referred to the change in status around the PS5 stock on ShopAtSC, the official Sony retail channel. The listing status of the PS5 has changed from “Sold Out” to “Notify Me”. This is likely in line with past reports around the stocks of the console. In addition, ShopAtSC also sends an email when buyers click on the “Notify Me” button stating that the nearest Sony store will connect with them “once the product is in stock”.

The report also outlined that Sony has likely not informed other retailers about the incoming stock. It also outlined that some Sony Centers took cash deposits for the March PS5 restocks. The publication has also highlighted several instances of scalping and scalpers trying to sell the PlayStation 5 consoles at a higher price. In addition, a small portion of the gaming community on Reddit has also tried its best to take on the scalpers by reporting the product listings across multiple platforms.

In a response to the scalping, Sony India also shared a statement to the publication indicating a “zero tolerance” policy. This is interesting considering some of the Sony authorized retail partners were spotted selling the PS5 above its market price of Rs 49,990. Sony stated that it has “taken serious note” of the instances of scalping and it has a “zero-tolerance policy” for such practices. The report also stated that some outlets engaging in scalping also asked potential buyers to lie to the company upon questioning.
