Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Ubisoft Montreal’s Narrative Director reiterated that the Mirage does indeed go back to the action-adventure and narrative-driven roots of the series. This information was already doing the rounds in the community when people were trying to figure out what Mirage is all about. Mirage focuses on stealth and parkour, with Basim as the lead playable character. As we already know, Mirage is a DLC turned standalone game, originating from Valhalla. The storyline makes it more of a prequel, dating 20 years back before Valhalla, sometime in the 9th Century. We’ll be witnessing the transformation of a young Basim Ibn Isshaq, from a “street thief to a master assassin”, hustling through the streets of Baghdad. Another notable character that we see in the trailer is Roshan, Basim’s mentor, who has been voiced by the Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo. Additionally, the 40 Thieves Side Quest has also been revealed that will be given away with pre-orders now live. A Collector’s Case containing some exclusive figurines and collectibles will also be available with pre-orders. Finally, it has also been officially announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is coming in 2023 on Xbox One and Series, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. Editions now available for pre-orders include a Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Case.

Shortly after the announcement of the pre-orders, fans noticed that the game featured an Adults Only rating on the Xbox Store. It was soon revealed that it was so rated by the ESRB as the game features "real gambling". Naturally, this stirred up quite the controversy, but Ubisoft soon put all doubts at rest, with their official statement on the matter, and assurance.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Last Chapter

We got to see an exclusive first look of this upcoming DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It is being launched as a free-quest arc and the Last Chapter to Eivor’s story.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Red

A short teaser was revealed for their upcoming “premium flagship title”, Codename Red. It will be marking the beginning of the third phase of Assassin’s Creed games, focusing on the open-world RPG genre. Ubisoft Quebec, the developers of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, is currently working on the title, under the creative direction of Jonathan Durmont. Feudal Japan, one of the most requested settings for an Assassin’s Creed game, is what we’ll finally get to experience with this title. Creator and producer Marc-Alexis Cote said that players will finally get to live their “shinobi fantasies” in this Assassin’s Creed.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe

A cryptic teaser has also been launched for Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. It is currently in development at Ubisoft Montreal, with Creative Director Clint Hocking in the lead. This is one project that we heard of for the first time at the Showcase.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity

Another shocking revelation that we were slapped with- “Infinity is not a game”. Infinity has long been rumored to be an upcoming, extremely ambitious entry in the franchise, scheduled to launch after Mirage. However, Cote informs, it is “the single entry point for our fans into the Assassin’s Creed franchise into the future. It is going to be like a hub that will unite all our different experiences, and our players together in meaningful ways.”, much like an “Animus”. On this note, Cote also informed that Ubisoft is also planning to bring in standalone multiplayer experiences into the Assassin’s Creed universe, all connected, through the Infinity Hub. Both, codename Red and codename Hexe, will be a part of this project, codename Infinity.

Assassin’s Creed celebrates 15th Anniversary

A new documentary with behind-the scenes of Assassin’s Creed in the last 15 years has been launched. It’s called “Beyond the Creed”, and is available on Ubisoft and gTV YouTube channels. Additionally, an Artbook on the Making of Assassin’s Creed, a figurine of Amunet, an Echoes of History podcast, and a novel called The Magus Conspiracy, are launching on this occasion of the 15th Anniversary. There’s also a new Webtoon coming soon- the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Webtoon Sequel, and a celebration with a “Symphonic Adventure live concert”.

Netflix series

Cote announced that Ubisoft Film and Television is now co-developing with Netflix, a series based on the Assassin’s Creed franchise. It has Jeb Stuart at the helm, known for being the writer-director for blockbusters like Die Hard, and The Fugitive. Cote informs that it is “still early in development”, and “it’s going to be an epic, genre-bending, live-action adaptation” of the video game series.

Assassin’s Creed mobile games

Coming to the franchise expanding to new territories, a new Assassin’s Creed mobile game has been announced. Codename Jade, a AAA RPG action-adventure, “It will feature all the iconic Assassin’s Creed gameplay, but optimized for the experience on touch controls”, said Cote. As you will witness in the trailer below, it has Ancient China in 215 BCE set as the backdrop. Additionally, for the first time in the history of Assassin’s Creed games, this mobile game will allow you to create and customize your own character. “Sneak through bustling cities, engage in intense combat”, and ofcourse, “parkour atop the Great Wall of China”. Here’s the trailer.

Additionally, Ubisoft has a second mobile game in development, in association with Netflix for Netflix Games.
