Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube returns with a new anime on July 2, bringing fresh animation, music, and classic ghost stories to a new generation
Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube is coming back again. A new anime version is releasing soon and just now, they has dropped a trailer before the July 2 air date. The trailer show some spooky moments, and also revealed the new opening and ending theme songs. The opening is called “POWER -Akuryo Taisan-” by Shintenchi Kaibyaku Shudan: Zigzag, while “Himawari” is the ending song, sung by Chilli Beans.
This is not the first time Nube was on screen. The manga appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1993 until 1999. After that, it got a big anime with 49 episode, plus some OVAs, few movies, one PlayStation game, and even a drama with real actors. Fans really like the mix of ghosts and school stuff, which help it stay popular for long time.
By 2024, the full franchise, including all its side stuff, has sold more than 29 million copies. That’s a lot, so clearly it was pretty big deal back in days.
New Team, Same Feeling
Now, Studio KAI is making the new anime. Yasuyuki Oishi is the director, while the script is handled by Yoshiki Okusa. The new designs for characters comes from Yuu Yoshiyama, and music is from Evan Call, who also did Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
Even if it’s a new team, they says the story will still feel like the old one. That sound nice for longtime fans.
What’s the Story Again?
The main character is Meisuke Nueno, but most people just calls him Nube. He’s a teacher with one demon hand. He have psychic powers and use them to protect kids from monsters and ghosts and all that. Some parts is scary, but it also has emotional scenes too. The story use a lot of Japanese ghost legends, which make it more unique.
Each episode kind of have its own story, but also connect with the bigger one about Nube fighting evil stuff and helping students.
So with this reboot, they trying to bring it to a new generation but also not forget the old ones. The music is nice, the animation looks better now, and it still gives that creepy but cool kind of feeling.
If you saw it before, maybe it’ll bring back memories. If not, then it’s a good time to find out what Nube and his demon hand is all about. It’s airing on July 2, and the trailer shows they really worked hard on it.
Could be fun to watch—ghosts, students, a psychic teacher. What else do you need?
